Domestic Ventilation Systems
As homes become better insulated and more airtight, effective ventilation has moved from an afterthought to a central part of good building practice. Poorly designed or badly installed systems lead to condensation, damp, mould and poor indoor air quality, and the regulations have tightened accordingly. For installers, understanding domestic ventilation is now an essential part of delivering compliant, healthy homes.
This two-day course has been structured to meet the requirements of Approved Document Part F of the Building Regulations 2020, giving you the knowledge and understanding to work confidently across domestic ventilation systems.
Course content:
The requirements of Approved Document Part F and the wider regulatory framework
The four ventilation system types and their appropriate applications
Selecting the right system for the property and its occupants
Installation requirements and good practice
Commissioning, measurement and testing
Documentation, certification and handover to the client
The qualification is recognised as a demonstration of competence for Competent Person Schemes (CPS), allowing you to self-certify your ventilation work rather than relying on third-party sign-off. It's ideal for experienced electricians, plumbers, ventilation installers and heating engineers looking to broaden their skill set, and pairs naturally with heat pump and low-carbon heating work, where ventilation and air quality go hand in hand. Like all CMCAT training, it's built around the realities of working tradespeople, keeping time away from the job to a minimum.
