LCL Level 3 EV Charging Installation & Commissioning (Domestic, Commercial & Ind

£370.00Price

Course Code: TC10137

Duration: 2 days

With the sale of new petrol and diesel cars ending in 2030 and over two million plug-in vehicles already on UK roads, the demand for charging infrastructure is only going one way. This regulated LCL Level 3 Award gives qualified electricians a nationally recognised qualification in the installation and commissioning of electric vehicle charging equipment across domestic, commercial and industrial locations.

The qualification has been designed in conjunction with the IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (5th Edition), BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 and current industry requirements. Over two days you'll cover the key requirements for EV charging equipment installations, the equipment used in each of the four charging modes and the differences between them, including wireless power transfer types, and the preparation needed before design and installation begins. You'll then work through designing and installing charging equipment in dwellings, commercial and industrial settings, before covering initial verification, inspection and testing, and handover to the client.

This is a structured training and assessment package with both theory and practical assessment included, so you leave having demonstrated your competence rather than simply sat through the content. The qualification is also recognised by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme and may be required by MCS certified employers, making it valuable if you're working in or moving towards renewables.

Who can attend?

You'll need to hold the Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671 (current edition), plus one of the following: a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment, a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services, a Level 3 Electrotechnical Apprenticeship qualification, a Level 3 NVQ or Experienced Worker qualification in Electrotechnical Services, a Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings Experienced Worker qualification, a Level 3 Building Services Engineering Electrotechnical Installation qualification, or an SVQ in Electrical Installation at SCQF level 7. Equivalent qualifications listed in Tables A4.7 and A4.8 of the EAS Qualifications Guide are also accepted, as is a current ECS Gold Card issued by the JIB or SJIB.

If you're unsure whether your qualifications meet the requirements, call us before booking and we'll check for you.
